Star Mountain Animal Sanctuary is a safe haven for abused and neglected animals. A forever home for most and a place to recover and rehabilitate for some before finding their very own special home. We provide all the animals in our care with as much love and freedom as we can, to allow them to live life as nature intended. We follow the 5 freedom ideals and are a cage free vegan sanctuary. We believe in compassion for all beings.

What do we do?
We are a vegan sanctuary, that provides a life long safe haven to those animals that have suffered enough. We also work alongside local government shelters, helping to get the dogs adopted to the most suitable homes. As well as this we are passionate about sterilising the local dog and cat populations to stop the suffering and the shelters being filled with animals that will probably be doomed to a life behind bars.
We are a dog registered dog and cat shelter however we have a limited amount of animals that we can house at the sanctuary. 26 dogs and 30 cats. We are often over this number and we are always full so we can not accept your unwanted pets. Please do not dump animals near our property, anyone seen doing so will be reported to the police. If you would like advice on how to rehome your animal we can help , But we can not advertise them or take them on.

The farm is situated in a peaceful and beautiful setting yet Caldas da Rainha, with its many restaurants, museums and shops is only a 5-minute drive away.
Set in a wonderful garden surrounded by palm trees, fruit trees and the vineyard, it offers you a peace and tranquillity.
After a long day exploring the beautiful nearby beaches or the famous medieval town of Óbidos, you can cook up a feast in your very own fully equipped kitchen.
On the grounds you can enjoy a swimming pool, a children's
playground, chickens, dogs, goats and many fruit trees where you can pick oranges for your morning juice.
Tickets are €10 each all the proceeds go towards our sterilisation campaign. We are hoping to sterilise at least another 50 cats and dogs before the end of the year.
There are 120 tickets, and the raffle will run until all the tickets are sold.
